A cultural explosion is rocking Provo! Every Thursday from 5:30p to 9:30p at the Bight (Children’s) Park, over a dozen local food vendors, entertainers and cultural acts come together for Island Fish Fry to create an evening of “all things TCI.”
The aroma of fresh fish frying fills the air, while visual treats abound with vats of boiling lobster and conch salad masters plying their craft. Cultural acts are interspersed throughout the evening with performances by the Breezy Beach and Edward Garland Youth Centre Dancers to bring vibrancy and passion to the night. This is a cultural-must in Turks & Caicos, and we’re about to tell you why!
Both your children and the children at heart will get a huge kick out off the traditional Junkanoo band parade that dances across the Bight as the centerpiece to this amazing weekly event; dressed in traditional Caribbean heritage outfits, the Junkanoo band is a sight for the eyes and ears, with an electric energy that is sure to make everyone want to dance!
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Fish Fry without amazing food from local vendors. Whether you’re into seafood, island food, or a mix of both, there’s something for everyone here. There’s also a whole host of alcoholic beverages for our guests who are looking to spice things up a bit! Our favorite vendor is Turks Head Lager, with a small stand selling their locally-crafted brew (whose brewery is on-island and open for tours, by the way!). You haven’t truly escaped to the island life until you’ve had a sip of this amazing lager with a truly Caribbean flare!
For those who are looking to get their grove on, a big part of Fish Fry Thursdays is also the amazing concerts from local talent that are put on every Thursday. Think you’re brave enough to take the stage and hit that high note? Fish Fry Thursdays is also notorious for some of the best (and worst!) karaoke in the Caribbean, so bring your singing pipes if you’re up for it!
